Are Stock Investments a Good Place to Put Your Money?

After the collapse of the real estate market in 2007 investors were searching for places to put their money. They poured it into the stock market at a rate not seen in almost ten years, sending the Dow soaring ever higher. But as any historical analyst can tell you, what goes up must come down. It's a law of nature called gravity that magically applies to the stock market. Bulls run it up and bears pull it down.

So are stock investments still a good place to put your money. It depends on the sector you choose and the timing of the stock play, but yes, the stock market is still one of the best ways to increase the size of your investments. A stock gives you ownership in a company, so put your money where your hard earned dollars go, and buy companies you do business with.

Depending on your investment goals and plans you can be aggressive and place a higher allocation of your portfolio with higher risk stocks. High risk can mean big returns but it does not have to mean a stupid investment. The key to any successful investment plan is research. Do your homework. It was great advice in school and still applies today. With investing in stocks, you can use calls, limits, stops and straddle orders to protect your position and exit with a profit, or reduce risk if your play is losing. Research is your best asset when using stock investments to make money.
